Location, Location
Located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, High Point boasts many scenic vistas and lovely landscapes. The most popular attraction is the High Point Market, with 11.5 million square feet of exhibition space and over 100 countries represented. This is the most serious retail home furnishings show in the world. To appreciate the history of furniture, the Bernice Beinstock Furniture Library, reputed to be the largest of its kind, tells the tale of how the industry began and developed in High Point.
High Point Museums
Furniture isn’t the only claim to fame in High Point. The High Point Museum showcases the significant cultural and historical contributions of this region to the United States. There are over 37,000 items, archival materials and photographs in the collection, all displayed in an engaging manner. Another noteworthy site is The Rosetta C. Baldwin African-American Museum. Born in 1902, Baldwin was a prominent local figure who worked in Christian education. Since her death, her house was converted into a museum of memorabilia of the African-American role in High Point’s community development.
On a lighter note, downtown High Point is also home to The Brown Truck Brewery, where craft beer is the delicious attraction. All beverages are brewed from fresh, local ingredients. You can take a tour of the tap rooms and then pull up a chair on the patio to gaze at High Point’s lush surroundings over a frothing mug. Another fun site in High Point is the All-A-Flutter Butterfly Farm, where you can meet Monarch butterflies in all stages of life.
